This type of book isn't one that I am particularly interested in searching for, but I think that the message behind it is really relatable to those who have family in the military. Although it was pretty short, I thought that it covered a lot of events and did a good job at incorporating many characters so that the reader felt sad for them when they lost their fathers.
Glad that you enjoyed this graphic novel, at least certain aspects of it. I do think it tells a valuable story about military families and the visuals offer something unique for students. This could be especially helpful if you have students that may struggle with reading or visualizing a story. If you are interested in reading other adolescent graphic novels (they are not war related, but are "coming of age"), I would recommend "Stitches" by David Small or "Skim" by Mariko and Jillian Tamaki.
